Nicola Gordon: Bio

Nicola Gordon

Nicola writes songs incessantly, teaches songwriting and makes her own joyful sense out of life as she goes. Down to-earth, asymmetrically quirky, her music stretches boxes, bounces boundaries, tells tales of life as she sees it.

She has created 3 fully-produced CD's with Robinson Eikenberry. They have a full sound, and full band to back up her enthusiasm. Nicola is inspired by nature, acts of kindness, and a full appreciation of life's rich lessons.

Nicola also has two newly out CDs out to add to the mix, So Many Gifts and Love Games, both from and based on the book The Gift, by Daniel Ladinski. Nicola has been playing with putting Hafiz poetry to music (14th century Persian Sufi Poet of Shiraz). She is always and currently working on new material, the most recent of which can be heard on her myspace page... http://www.myspace.com/nicolagordon

For the past eleven years Nicola's Adult Ed class at Santa Barbara City College has been an ongoing source of camraderie and inspiration in the community. It is free and open to all who want to join in the rich journey of song creation. Nicola also does private song coaching and integrative healing work with people one on one.

Most recently Nicola has been excited to play home concerts, bringing her heart-felt songs to people in the intimacy of their own home with friends to share. Also she sometimes rounds up a band called the Nicola Gordon Orchestra, comprised of herself plus Kenny Edwards (guitarist extraordinaire) and Vince Chafin (everything else extraordinaire, i.e. bass, percussion, Native American flute...). She is continually making her distinctive and 'joyful noise' around California, with some occasional jaunts into the great beyond.

Nicola has a good time with music. It is her passion to write music and share in that creativity. Her intention is to deepen into her own connection, joy, and authenticity, creating a magical space for all to play in. Music is deep play; music is wide open healing; it is good to sing, to fill the sky.
